I am so excited to finally share a secret with everyone. I have a new video interview with a special lady who has influenced many quilt creators in the quilting industry. She was one of Cotton Cut’s first ambassadors and she’s known for her love of paper piecing. She loves and wants to be known for paper piecing as well as teaching it! Please say hello to Yvette in the comments section of the video when it premieres and share with all of us where you are viewing from!
The video goes live September 19th, 2023 at 6:00 PM Mountain time, 8:00 PM EST and 10:00 Greenland Time. Please come and say hello and comment below the video where you are viewing from. “Exploring The Yvette Renee channel’s Quilting Journey”
Yvette started making quilts in 2001. A friend of hers influenced her to want to start making quilts. The first thing Yvette did was go and buy her first machine which is a Baby Lock Ellure. She still has the machine but has added the Baby Lock Crescendo to the quilting family.
Over time Yvette discovered her love of Paper Piecing. She has started making her own paper piecing patterns as well as started her “Piecing It Real” online community. She really loves paper piecing and wants it to blossom into something huge. She really loves to teach paper piecing as well.
Yvette started her YouTube channel (TheYvetteRenee) in 2016. One of her cats who is called Jelly Bean loves to parade often in front of the camera when Yvette is filming or goes live to sew. I think he’s in love with the camera!
When Yvette started her channel, she started out unboxing all kinds of subscription boxes. It is because of this I became interested in Quilting. She was opening a Cotton Cuts Classic Box, FQS Sew Sampler Box, Cotton Cuts Puzzle Mystery QAL, and Sweet Water’s Quilt label subscription.
Yvette was Cotton Cuts 1st ambassador. What an honor to be one of the first to start making tutorials of the Puzzle Mystery QAL. Her first PMQ was the “This Way and That Way” QAL, Team Ballet.

Her second PMQ was the “Stratford,” Team Viola.
Over time Yvette started having live sew-alongs and created short tutorials. She really loves to share her knowledge of paper piecing through teaching and tutorials. The thing that Yvette loves the most is teaching through her Piecing It Real online membership. She also hosts online virtual sewing retreats as well.
Thank you so much Yvette for sitting down to have a conversation with me. I really enjoyed it!
